Yep, she was bit by another snake. This time it was on her snout, right next to her nose. The poor girl. She came to me right after it happened. There is this funny way she acts when something is wrong (really wrong that is) so I knew to look her over immediately. Sure enough, I saw two puncture marks on her nose.

I quick went out and looked for the snake. I knew approximately where Widget had been foraging but I couldn't find the slithering nuisance. So, off to the vet we went.

We're at a new vet now so this was actually our first time out there. I had set up an appt for Widget's shots for the following week, so at least we were in their system! The new clinic is awesome - I felt she was in good hands.

The started her on the antivenin and monitored her through the day. They close at 6pm so at 5:45 I went and got her and transported her to the emergency clinic (where she went for her first bite). Wouldn't you know the same doctor that treated her then was there this time!

Long story short, Widget did fantastic and came home this morning. She's pretty worn out from her adventure but seems in great spirits and is eating well. Browser missed her terribly and doesn't want to leave her side right now (much to her dismay! she wants a nap!)

One thing this incident reminded me of was how little time we have our pets in our lives. When I started this blog I updated it very frequently but as time went on I neglected it. I would have been devastated to have lost Widget yesterday and not have had cherished every moment, had current pictures of her, etc. So... I'm going to get back into updating. I have plenty of cute puppy stories to share :)

Poor Widget! This is terrible! I wonder if she just didn't see it or if she was chasing it? Methinks that she is probably gun-shy by now. Glad to hear that she's ok! Whew!!

I don't think she saw it - I think she had her nose under a rock (like she always does lol!) and that's when it happened. She barked ferociously at a snake skin about a month ago so I feel like if she does see a snake she will probably react appropriately, but who knows! All I know is that it's probably not a good thing when you're at the emergency vet's office and you hear the vet in back say "Widget's here with another snake bite?"
